1. Hallstatt, Austria – A Fairytale Village That Feels Otherworldly
If you've ever seen a postcard of Austria, it's safe to say Hallstatt was on it. This small village on the side of a lake looks like something out of a Disney movie. With colorful houses, snow-covered mountains in the background, and a serene lake in between - Hallstatt is a come-to-life fantasy.
Why Hallstatt in 2025?
Travel and Tourism in Europe is much more sustainable now, they are limiting crowds in Hallstatt. They are encourage visits during the off peak season (spring and autumn) so this is ideal time to enjoy the beauty of Hallstatt without rushing.
Things to do:
- Take a boat onto Lake Hallstatt at sunrise. Trust me, it’s one of the best things you can do.
- Go to the ancient salt mines - one of the oldest in the world.
- Wander the village lanes with a camera - every angle is a beautiful picture.
Personal note:
I went in early May and the cherry blossoms were blooming, it felt like walking in a romantic painting.
2.Munnar, India – The Emerald Hills of the South
Lets return home for a moment — to Kerala's famous hill station, Munnar. Known as the "Kashmir of South India", Munnar has ginormous green tea gardens, misty valleys, and breezes that refresh your soul.
Why Munnar in 2025?
Munnar is now incredibly accessible and clean, thanks to eco-tourism initiatives, and higher quality infrastructure. Munnar is one of those areas where it can be spectacular at all times, but monsoon and fall really take the cake.
Things to Do:
- Go to the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate — the world's highest tea plantation.
- Check out the sunrise at Top Station. It's absolutely breathtaking.
- Stay in a cottage (or treehouse!) at a tea estate; amazing experience.
Personal Memory:
I can see myself sitting and enjoying freshly brewed tea while watching clouds curl around the hills — pure bliss (this unedited version can hardly be explained) — no filters, no sounds, just nature.
3. Patagonia, Chile – The Edge of the World
A place that seems to be wild, remote, and simply gorgeous. Nestled at the southernmost point of South America, Patagonia is known for its glaciers, turquoise lakes, and jagged mountains and is not a place for luxury seeking, but rather adventure and peaceful seekers.
Why Patagonia in 2025?
Because more and more people are becoming aware of climate change and want to escape to a place like Patagonia to experience pristine wilderness. The area is also gaining more guided treks and accommodations promoting eco-friendly practices that won't destroy the environment.
Things to do:
- Trek Torres del Paine National Park; every view is postcard-worthy.
- Go glacier trekking or kayaking on Pehoé Lake.
- Spot wildlife like guanacos and flamingos in their natural habitat.
Travel Tip:
While it is a long trip, and a trek to get there, every ounce of effort is worth it if you are a nature lover like me. It made me truly appreciate how small we are in comparison to this majestic and majestic planet.
